In the past week we have seen a number of attempts to steal motorcycles which are regularly parked on the street overnight. If you have a motorcycle can we ask you to review your security. If possible place inside a secure garage or yard ideally this would be round the back of the house so it is not visible from the street. We know that this is not always possible for everyone, if your motorcycle is parked overnight on the street consider what physical security you can place on it to make it less attractive to the thieves, look to fit at least two separate devices such as a disc lock and U-lock, or if available chain it to street furniture. Consider where you are parking the machine, is the street well lit, does it have a high footfall or passing vehicles. Time is the enemy of the thieves, the longer it takes for them to remove the locks the more chance there is of them being disturbed. Check if your lock has been rated by Thatcham. |
